Cucumber
This vegetable reduces swelling. Cut it up and place it directly on the bite.
Peppermint
Use the fresh cut leaves to cool burning sensations and to reduce the itch.
Tea Tree Oil
This essential oil combats swelling, pain and itching. It may contain anti-bacterial properties to prevent infection at the site of the bite.
Basil
Full of thymol and camphor, simply crush it up and apply to the bite to relieve itching.

The tannins in tea work to draw fluid out of the bite, which reduces the swelling.
